Amedeo Avogadro was a very interesting man who contributed great things to physics. However, he never received any awards for his discoveries. This is because he was much before his time and people did not recognize his acts as important accomplishments. It was not originally accepted and it was cast off. In the future people started to see the contributions he made and they honored him. One example of this is on the hundredth anniversary of his discovery the University of Turin honored him. King Victor Emmanuel III was there and recognized the accomplishment. Another example of this is the stamp he appears on above. Today, he is considered the founder of the Atomic-Molecular Theory.
Avogadro's life had some interesting things mixed, in along with his research. He was a very rebellious guy. He contributed to the revolution against King Victor Emmanuel I. The country was later granted a constitution for this rebellion. There is also some proof showing that Avogadro sponsored and supported the Sardinian's Revolution. They were stopped by a constitution that was published.
